Although not everybody would agree, I want to argue that woman should have a role in the theater because it takes to much money for costumes and make up to make men look like woman. Also it takes a lot more training and effort to teach the men to be womanly. As well as, women have more emotion. Therefore could better portray the role. I have several reasons for arguing this point of view.

My first reason is, it takes more costumes and make up to make the men look realistic. Where, if woman were in the theater, you wouldn’t need as much prep for costumes or make up. As the women already look like women. Also they may not even need costumes made, because they could always wear their own clothing.

A further reason is it takes a lot of training to walk and talk, like a lady. Whereas, if woman were in the theater, not a lot of training would be needed. This is time wasted that could be better used for something else that would improve the play.

Furthermore, women have many emotions. I believe it would be hard for a man to portray these emotions without immense training or practice. Again, being a waste of time. Woman could do this without much direction. This will add quality to the play, because it is easier to relate to. As well as being more realistic and believable.

Therefore though some people might argue that woman should be barefoot and pregnant, or home raising children. I feel that women do have a place in the theater because of the reasons stated above. Also, I believe women should have the same rights and privileges as men in today’s society.
